ND Celebrates the legacy of Dr. MLK Jr. on today's #dayofservice.
Twice a month, students, faculty, and staff drive into #philadelphia to volunteer at St Francis Inn Ministries located in the Kensington neighborhood of the city.
St. Francis Inn offers several important services to the community such as its Closet Clothing Center, a jobs center, and an inviting space for a sit-down meal.
"Volunteering at the St. Francis Inn has changed my perspective to have more gratitude for everyday life things like food, water, and shelter that are easily taken for granted," - Talia Scarpa '24.
The Inn opened in 1979 and serves over 350 meals a day with dignity and respect, meaning they are served restaurant-style so guests aren't walking through a traditional line to get their food.
"I am always so proud of our girls for the way they treat every guest with warmth, and they push themselves out of their comfort zones to be fully present to people on the margins of our society. Our time there is really an example of living our call to proclaim the Gospel by our lives!" - Mrs. Julia Tully, Director of Campus Ministry
