This presentation will discuss how to build an ethical culture despite rapid business expansion, red flags when choosing employer, and the future direction of the business of autism treatment.
Autism treatment services informed by the concepts and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (often referred to as ABA therapy) are projected to grow from $1.93 billion in 2020 to $3.5 billion by the end of 2022. Much of this exponential growth is fueled by the increasing rates of children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), insurance mandates providing coverage for ABA-based treatments, and the professionalization of the behavior analysis field.
These favorable business conditions have resulted in numerous companies rapidly entering the autism services marketplace. Many of the companies moving into the ABA space have little experience providing services to children with disabilities and report to investment boards rather than BCBAs.
