Borough of Rose Valley recently issued the following announcement.
Annual Large Trash Pickup. The 2022 Large Trash Pickup will take place on Monday, May 16 and Tuesday, May 17, 2022. As in the past, the Borough is hiring a salvage dealer to pick up the bulky items that cannot be disposed of through your trash collector. Bulky items include furniture, bedding, household appliances, rugs and lumber (providing the lumber is cut up into three-foot lengths and tied into bundles). There will be a limit of one large household appliance per address, as well as a weight restriction of 200 lbs. per any one item. Doors and windows, including garage doors broken down into bundles, will be picked up. TV’s, tires and computers will be picked up.
LEAVES, NEWSPAPERS, BRUSH AND NORMAL TRASH WILL NOT BE PICKED UP, nor will auto parts and building materials (sand, concrete, stone, brick, plasterboard, roofing or siding materials). It is important that each household have its items placed at the end of their driveway, as close to the road as possible, to avoid the possibility of property damage caused by the maneuvering of the large trucks that will be used in this large trash pickup.
PLEASE PLACE ALL ITEMS TO BE PICKED UP AT THE STREET END OF YOUR DRIVEWAY BY 8:00 A.M. ON MONDAY, MAY 16, 2022.

Saturday, April 23 – Emergency Services Training Center, 1600 Calgon Hook Rd., Sharon Hill
Saturday, June 11 – Rose Tree Park, 1671 N. Providence Rd., Media
Sunday, Sept. 10 – Emergency Services Training Center, 1600 Calgon Hook Rd., Sharon Hill
Saturday, Oct. 15 - Upper Chichester Municipal Building, 8500 Furey Rd. Upper Chichester
The hours for these drop-offs are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Household Hazardous Waste includes oil-based paint, paint thinner, varnish, kerosene, gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, weed killer, fungicides, pesticides, Ni-cad, lithium, rechargeable and lead acid batteries, cell phones. Native Plant Sale and Nature Walk – on May 14, the EAC is having a Native Plant Sale and Nature Walk. It will take place in the Saul Wildlife Preserve from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A Nature Walk with Dr. Roger Latham will take place at 11:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity to buy native trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses at wholesale prices.
Sewer Laterals.. A sewer lateral inspection certificate is required prior to the sale or transfer of a property stating that there are no illegal storm water inflow connections into the sewer lateral and that a lateral over 30 years old remains in satisfactory condition. Sump pump and storm water connections into sewer laterals are illegal and must be removed.
Free the Trees! English ivy and other vines growing on trees are not good for the health of the trees. Homeowners are encouraged to free their trees by removing ivy and other vines from the ground around the trunk and up to an easily reachable height. The vines above will eventually die and fall off.
Town Watch. Town Watch needs patrollers in all three sections of Rose Valley. Each day a Town Watch patrol drives through its neighborhood, usually in a car marked with “Rose Valley Town Watch” signs, although passing of the signs has been discontinued during the pandemic. Won’t you join us in this important community activity? Please call the Borough Office at 610-566-2040 any weekday morning to volunteer.

Borough Website. Visit the newly updated Rose Valley Borough Website at www.rosevalleyborough.org for announcements of upcoming meetings of the Borough Council, Planning Commission and Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) and other informative information.
Dog Waste. The Borough Office has received complaints about dog walkers leaving their “poop bags” on private properties. Please take these bags home and dispose of them in your own trash. This is common courtesy.
