Philadelphia Union Youth announced on May 14 that it is planning a soccer trip to Lisbon, Portugal for spring 2027. The organization said the experience will be organized by EPL Sports Tours and aims to provide young athletes with opportunities for elite competition, professional training environments, cultural excursions, and international travel.

The announcement matters because it offers Philadelphia Union Youth players a chance to experience soccer culture in one of the world’s premier football destinations. The trip is expected to include high-level training sessions, international competition, visits to professional stadiums, and cultural activities.

“We are excited to announce that EPL Sports Tours is currently planning a Philadelphia Union Youth trip to Lisbon, Portugal, for Spring 2027,” the statement said. “EPL Sports has been delivering world-class international sports travel experiences since 2007, creating memorable opportunities for young athletes through elite competition, professional training environments, cultural excursions, and international travel experiences.” The organization also said that previous tours have taken players and families abroad to destinations including the United Kingdom and Spain.

The planned trip will build on these past experiences by offering exposure to different styles of play and giving participants the chance to experience Portuguese soccer culture. Families interested in joining can complete an interest form online and secure a spot on upcoming informational Zoom calls about the trip. Spots on these calls are limited.

Philadelphia Union functions as a professional soccer team in Major League Soccer focused on representing the city in elite competition while fostering fan involvement and youth programs according to the official website. Its facilities feature Subaru Park in Chester along with several practice fields. The club achieved its best regular-season performance by winning the Supporters’ Shield in 2020 according to the official website.
